4cupsfresh peaches, sliced (or 2 cans of peach slices in syrup)
1cupgranulated sugar
1teaspoonground cinnamon
1boxyellow cake mix (approximately 15.25 oz)
12unsalted butter, melted
1cupwater (or peach juice if using canned peaches)
12vanilla extract (optional)
1servingWhipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a spacious mixing bowl, combine the sliced peaches with the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. If using canned peaches, drain some syrup but retain a bit for extra sweetness. Gently toss to coat the peaches evenly, then pour this enticing mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it out to create an even layer.
Take the dry yellow cake mix and generously sprinkle it over the peach layer. Do not mix or stir; simply ensure it covers the peaches completely.
Carefully drizzle the melted unsalted butter over the top of the cake mix, striving for an even distribution to ensure a rich flavor.
Pour the water (or peach juice) gently over the entire surface of the cake mix and butter combination. Again, avoid stirring; the liquids will work their magic as it bakes.
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 45-50 minutes, or until the top is beautifully golden brown and bubbling.
Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes to set before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, and garnish with fresh peach slices.
